Techo Art Collection

When we released our first limited-edition print by leading Czech and Slovak artists back in 1996, we had no idea we were starting a tradition that would eventually carve out its own niche in design history. Co-founder Jan Hampl often says it all began by chance, but the reality is simpler: it was the result of honest, hard work.

By bringing together former CEO Jiří Kejval and the renowned painter of Prague, Karel Chaba, the company (then known as TECHO) began creating original prints that became a signature gift for employees and partners alike.

The very first print was created in 1996 by painter Karel Chaba, using the hand-colored drypoint technique. This launched the Techo Art Collection—a successful series that evolved from sought-after lithographs to include original designer T-shirts.

Over the past thirty years, the collection has featured an impressive lineup of artists, including Oldřich Kulhánek, Michael Rittstein, Jiří Načeradský, Theodor Pištěk, Jiří Sopko, Jiří Georg Dokoupil, Krištof Kintera, and many others.

The Techo Art Collection is a core part of a philosophy that has guided us since our founding. For Ahrend (formerly TECHO), fine art and business have been intertwined from the very beginning. From the moment we started designing and manufacturing furniture for commercial interiors, we have supported art projects that resonate with us. At the entrance to our showroom, you are welcomed by a massive installation by Jiří Beránek, reminiscent of a grand gateway, and a metal sculpture by David Černý. Once inside, you enter a world without boundaries—a vibrant space where offices, meeting rooms, and an art gallery blend into one. Here, surrounded by art at every turn, we work, relax, and meet with colleagues and guests.
